essential oils -
for the ever giving person.
Do you find yourself unraveling?
Many people spend lots of time
and money eating a healthy diet, taking all the
right supplements, and getting enough exercise –
all in the name of becoming healthy. But
one thing that doesn’t get the energy that it
deserves is stress management.
Stress is your body’s response to anything that
disrupts your normal life and routines- meaning
anything that throws you off balance. When
our bodies get off balance, disease occurs.
The effects of stress can be emotional,
psychological, and physical. Irritability,
depression, anxiety, inability to concentrate,
sleep issues, problems with memory, digestive
issues, headaches, and sugar/caffeine cravings
have all been linked to stress. And living
with chronic stress can lead to a whole host of
chronic health issues that are making us sicker
and sicker as a culture.
When
used correctly, essential oils
can offer dramatic benefits to our
mental and physical health. They
truly help to balance the body to
heal instead of just placate
symptoms. Essential
oils are the most powerful
form of herbal medicine available.
The ‘volatile oil’ (what we call an
essential oil) contains the
concentrated essence of a plant.
Your sense of
smell is your most primal sense and exerts
surprising influence over your thoughts,
emotions, moods, memories, and behaviors.
Scents are experienced long before words.
Rose
or Lotus
known in aromatherapy
for their wonderful ability to flush away
anger and negative presences. Because these
oil possess such strong properties that
expel harsh energies, it makes for a great
oils to use, when trying to relax and
meditate. It also aids the mind in times of
change, to sooth the soul, and aid the
body in exertion.
Essential oils can be used both topically and
through inhalation to manage stress.
The easiest way to receive the benefits of
essential oils is through diffusing them. It
disperses the essential oils molecules into
the air and allows you to inhale them.
The molecules of the essential oils are so
small that they easily enter the olfactory
nerves inside of your nose and into the
limbic system, which is the seat of emotions
in the body. Diffuse oils
20-30 minutes to manage stress, 2 or 3
times a day.
If you do not have a diffuser, you can
place a drop or 2 of essential oil in the
palm of your hand, rub your hands
together, cup them around your nose and
inhale deeply. Do this for
several minutes. I have found this an
effective way to use many of my essential
oils.
You can also rub 1-2 drops of
essential oils on the bottoms of your
feet, shoulders, back of your neck
or stomach. I often use a
bit of carrier oil like coconut or jojoba to
help it spread.
Mix 3-6 drops of essential oil with Epsom
salt or baking soda and add to a hot bath
water while tub is filling. Soak in
bath for 20-30 minutes.
Rub 1-2 drops on the temples and
back of neck several times a day. You
can easily make a personal roller to take
with you on the go by adding 2 tsp of
carrier oil and 2-6 drops of your favorite
stress oil to a glass perfume roller.
Apply in the car, at the office, or when
your kids are driving you crazy.
Place a warm compress with 1-2
drops of chosen oil on the back.

Urination, is actually a really
important bodily function.
The
production of urine serves a few vital
purposes. Three of the most important being:
It
helps to remove waste and otherwise toxic
elements from your body;
it
helps you to maintain a steady internal
fluid content (vital for organ function)
and
it plays a part in regulating your body
temperature.
Really
it is your kidneys that are doing the dirty
work for you. Your kidneys are the organs
responsible for filtering out metabolic waste
and controlling your body’s fluid content.
To do
this they flush the toxins and waste out in
the form of urine. This urine is sent to your
bladder to be stored until it gets full enough
to make you feel like you need to urinate.
Aside
from offering bladder relief, removing
potentially toxic waste and regulating your
bodily fluids and temperature, your urine is
therefore the best indicator of your current
health.
You
don’t always need a doctors’ dip-stick to let
your urine tell you what is going on inside
your body.
Check
the color of your urine mid-stream rather than
after it has been diluted by the water in the
toilet bowl. The best way to do this,
especially for women who may struggle to see
their urine mid-stream, is to catch some urine
in a small, clean, clear container. This will
then allow you to see its color easily. You
should check the color of your urine
regularly, even if you are well, so that you
can find out what “normal” looks like for you.
Pale yellow or
gold urine
Pale
yellow or gold is the most common color for
urine and indicates that you are probably well
hydrated and have a healthy urinary tract.
Taking Vitamin B supplements can color your
urine brighter yellow, but it should become
less bright within a few hours. Your urine may
also become slightly darker if you drink less
water and paler as you drink more water.
Orange urine
Orange
urine could be indicative of your body being
dehydrated. This can happen when you have been
“holding it” for too long. It can also happen
after you exercise because you are using up
water to sweat and metabolize faster, which
means more metabolic waste to process and less
water to process it with. If your urine is
orange you should drink water immediately to
right your internal fluid content.
It can
also be caused by eating or drinking orange
(or red) foods and drinks. If either of these
is the case it should become paler within a
few hours and after a few glasses of water.
If your
urine stays orange for a prolonged time it
could be a sign of a more serious problem such
as liver or pituitary problems.
If your
urine stays orange for more than a few days in
spite of drinking plenty of water you should
consult your GP.
Amber or dark
orange urine
This is
much the same as orange urine but because it
is darker, that means it is even more
concentrated. More concentrated urine means
that you are even more dehydrated. You should
drink water and hydrate yourself immediately.
Concentrated
urine could also be the result of consuming
too much salt and caffeine.
In more
serious causes, amber urine could mean
problems like: anuria (decreased urine
production), metabolic problems, hematuria,
pituitary issues or ADH. These are all
conditions which should be treated by a
doctor, so if your urine stays dark orange for
a few days (in spite of drinking enough water)
you should consult your doctor immediately.
Brown urine
If your
urine is brown it is very concentrated. You
may be extremely dehydrated and you should
drink water right away.
There
are also a few medical conditions that can
cause urine to turn brown. These include
Urinary Tract Infections, Melanuria, kidney
stones, blood clots and in some cases even
cancer. Brown urine can also be as a result of
Addison’s Disease, Glycosuria, Proteinuria,
pituitary problems and Renal Artery Stenosis.
Sometimes
certain foods like Fava beans can turn your
urine brown so bear in mind what you have been
eating too. If you have not been eating fava
beans and the symptoms continue, then you
should definitely consult your GP.
Colorless urine
Have
you been drinking a lot of water? Because
colorless urine means that you are probably
over hydrated. Try to drink a little less and
it should soon return to normal. You shouldn’t
need medical attention unless the condition
persists for longer than a few days.
Cloudy or
sediment containing urine
If your
urine is milky white or cloudy you probably
have a urinary tract infection.
In some
cases it could be a sign of kidney disorders,
problems with your metabolic processes or even
Chyluria which is a lymph node issue.
Cloudy
white urine is a sign of Phosphaturia and
pituitary gland issues.
The
important thing to ask yourself is whether you
are in any pain or if you have any other
bladder discomforts and/or odd symptoms? If
you are in pain, feeling sick (nauseous),
urinate a lot more frequently than usual and
have cloudy urine, then you should consult a
doctor as soon as possible.
Even
something as simple as a urinary tract
infection can quickly make you very ill and
uncomfortable. Untreated urinary tract
infections can lead to bladder and kidney
infections. The longer it remains untreated,
the more internal damage and the longer the
road to recovery.
Red or pink urine
This is
usually caused by blood in your urine. If you
have any reason to believe you have blood in
your urine you should consult your GP
immediately!
Blood
in your urine is called hematuria and is most
often caused by severe urinary tract
infections, a heavy knock or blow to the
kidney area or kidney stones.
Sometimes blood in your urine is caused by
Cancer and tumors but before you panic, make
sure that you haven’t just eaten foods or
taken medication that can make your urine
appear red. These would be some red food dyes,
beetroot, blueberries and rhubarb.
Medicines
that can turn your urine red include iron
supplements, Pepto-Bismol and Maalox.
Just
remember that any artificial food that has
dyes strong enough to color your urine most
probably aren’t good for you.
Black urine
This is
very rare. If you do experience black urine
you could have a genetic disorder of tyrosine
metabolism and phenylalanine which causes an
accumulation of homogentistic acid in the
blood. Seek medical attention immediately!
Green or blue
urine
This is
also rare but when it is experienced its
usually because of something that you have
eaten. Certain foods, colorants and highly
concentrated vitamins can cause discoloration
of your urine to green or orange.
If you
experience pain or discomfort at the same time
as your urine being green or blue it could be
due to an unusual urinary tract
infection. If the symptoms persist
you should seek medical attention.
Foaming urine
If your
urine is turbulent and foamy it could be a
sign of diabetes or hypertension. You should
consult your doctor if the condition lasts
longer than a few days.
What the smell of
your urine tells you
What
your urine smells like is also an important
indicator of your health. Normal urine doesn’t
actually have a strong smell. When your urine
has a strong odor it is usually because you
are dehydrated. It can also be caused by
high-protein foods.
Strong smelling
urine
If you
have strong smelling urine but you are not
dehydrated and haven’t eaten anything high in
protein you may have an infection somewhere in
your urinary tract or may even have kidney
stones. If you have any other symptoms you
should consult your GP.
Urine that smells
like Ammonia
An
ammonia smell in your urine could be because
of a sexually transmitted disease, hormonal
imbalances or metabolic disorders. If the
smell persists for longer than a day or two
you should consult a doctor, especially if it
is accompanied by burning, pain or any other
symptoms.
Sweet fruity
smelling urine
A sweet
fruity smell in your urine is sometimes caused
by uncontrolled diabetes. If you have any
other symptoms you should consult a doctor.
Sulphurous
smelling urine
Urine
that smells like sulphur (eggy smell) can be
caused by certain strong smelling foods such
as asparagus. The interesting thing about
“asparagus smelling urine” is that only about
half of all people have the required gene to
be able to smell it.
This is
not usually a health risk and shouldn’t
warrant medical attention unless it is coupled
with other symptoms.

Each of the
Seven Chakras are governed by spiritual laws,
principles of consciousness that we can use to
cultivate greater harmony, happiness, and
wellbeing in our lives and in the world.
This Month we are taking a
look at the First Chakra.
You can find information on all seven chakras Here>>>
Chakra's For
Health and well being
The Root Chakra,
known in Sanskrit as muladhara, is
located at the base of the spine. It governs
your most basic survival needs. When this
chakra is clear and energy flows through it
freely, we feel secure and confident that we
can easily fulfill our needs. However,
blockage in this area can cause us to feel
anxious and worried.
Symptom of Blocked
Chakra Emotion and some physical manifestations:
Fear - weight problems,
hemorrhoids, degenerative arthritis, knee
troubles, sciatica - Our actions would
revolve around selfishly satisfying our personal
needs, hoarding compulsively so we would never
be without. We would feel threatened, angry and
victimized, which ultimately would take a toll
on our health leading to lethargy and
depression, illness and disease.
Essential oils
support the root chakra by aligning us with our
connection to our physical bodies and to the
earth’s body. They also help the base
chakra to spin correctly, creating energy and
life force as a foundation for the rest of our
chakras to utilize. You may experience enriched
emotions, increased sensitivity, be more
emphatic and better able to control your
emotions.
To use:
Using Red Adrenal Base Root, put a few
drops in hands rub together and breath deeply.
This blend of oils help reverse a sense of
isolation.
Chakra
mantras help you to clear your energy pathways
so you can thrive, not just survive; this
allows you to make the most of your physical
life experience, creating positive physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual change.
Using chakra mantras
during meditation can have a very powerful
effect. Imagine a chakra as an
instrument, and the mantra as a tuning
fork – strike the tuning fork,
and the instrument will come into
vibrational resonance with it, clearing out
any energies that do not share the same
resonance.
·OM: The
most
well known and universal of the mantras it
is the sound of creation and causes
energy to gather and flow upward and
outward.OM is the mantra
of acceptance and assent. It helps you to
accept your higher self and allow
energy to flow openly and freely through
you. It also serves as
a gathering mantra, gathering your inward
energy and preparing your energy for
movement.
While inhaling Red Adrenal
Base Root: chant LAM: The
cleansing mantra chanted for
your Root Chakra, which keeps
us grounded and linked to the earth.
Chanting this mantra will cleanse
impurities that can collect in the root
chakra – literally
opening you up to feelings of
security, prosperity and belonging – and
clearing any blocked energy that is
being prevented from moving through to
the other six main energy centers. Chant
“LAM” if your energy is low, you
struggle financially, you suffer from
low self-esteem and you suffer from
adrenal fatigue and other
stress-related ailments.
Healing of the Root
Chakra:
Balancing and opening the root/base chakra
allows negative emotions to be released,
regenerating confidence and your will to move
forward in life. A healthy root/base chakra
promotes feelings of security and encourages
exploration to find your life's purpose and
achieve success. A balanced root chakra
also generates the flow of energy to all other
chakras.
Remedies Just choose the
beginning letter of an ailment to find a remedy that
might help!
Don't forget prayer and listen to your body
as you take anything. Remember that even
doctors are only practicing.
God Bless each of you in your quest for health.
