Coconut Oil is Known to be:
  • Anti-bacterial - kills bacteria that cause ulcers, throat infections, urinary tract infections, gum diseases, and other bacterial infections.
  • Anti-carcinogenic - coconut oil has antimicrobial properties so it may  prevent the spread of cancer cells while enhancing the immune system.
  • Anti-fungal - kills fungi and yeast that lead to infection - use along with Candida Clear, Candida Albicans vibropathic by Hanna Kroeger. Also, here is a fun "self test" you can do - first thing in the morning - to test for candida found here > > >
  • Anti-inflammatory  - appears to have a direct effect in suppressing inflammation and repairing tissue, and it may also contribute by inhibiting harmful intestinal microorganisms that cause chronic inflammation.
  • Anti-microbial/Infection Fighting - the medium-chain fatty acids and monoglycerides found in coconut oil are the same as those in human mother's milk, and they have extraordinary antimicrobial properties. By disrupting the lipid structures of microbes, they inactivate them. About half of coconut oil consists of lauric acid. Lauric acid, its metabolite monolaurin and other fatty acids in coconut oil are known to protect against infection from bacteria, viruses, yeast, fungi and parasites. Coconut Oil for General Health and Wellness
  1. Appetite Suppressant – the fat in coconut oil triggers the release of the cholecystokinin hormone which slows down food movement through the digestive tract. It is the last nutrient to get digested and leave the stomach, supplying you a delayed feeling of satisfaction after eating.
  2. Breastfeeding – for breastfeeding moms, consuming at least 3 ½ tablespoons of coconut oil daily will enrich and increase the milk supply.
  3. Bones and Teeth – coconut oil aids in the absorption of calcium and magnesium leading to better development of bones and teeth.
  4. Digestion - the saturated fats in coconut oil help control parasites and fungi that cause indigestion and other digestion related problems such as irritable bowel syndrome. The fat in coconut oil also aids in the absorption of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, making you healthier all around.
  5. Energy Boost – coconut oil boosts energy and endurance making it a great supplement for athletes as well as those needing a quick pick me up.
  6. Fitness - coconut oil has been proven to stimulate your metabolism, improve thyroid function, and escalate energy levels, all of which help decrease your unwanted fat while increasing muscle.

It is the liver’s job to get rid of the excess fat, protein and all the unnatural chemicals found in food, the environment, cosmetics and water supply. If the liver cannot eliminate these toxins, they are stored in the body’s fat and the result is weight gain. Other organs that are also affected when you over indulge include the gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, nervous system, endocrine system, heart and lungs.
Help for Overindulges

Herbal tea brings relief
Chinese traditional medicine uses natural substances to help support the healthy functions of your liver, lymphatic system, bowels, urinary tract, and skin.
Try these herbs in teas to cleanse and prevent a buildup of toxins and wastes in your body:

  • Chrysanthemum flower is traditionally used to cleanse the liver and neutralize toxins.

  • Hawthorn berry is used to cleanse the blood of plaque and other toxins.

  • Turmeric supports the detoxification process in the whole body by increasing bile production and releasing and eliminating toxins. Simply put a tablespoon of the spice in a pot and stir over medium heat for five minutes.

  • Milk thistle protects and restores the liver, due to its content of silymarin.

  • Dandelion root has been found by studies to enhance the flow of bile, relieving liver congestion, which in turn aids the body in detoxifying.

Relieve that feeling of fullness with herbal teas that target your digestion: Steep 1 teaspoon each of mint, rosemary, oregano, cilantro, sage, and basil and in a cup of hot water. Drink after each meal to soothe and prevent bloating. Peppermint, chamomile, and ginger tea are other good choices for settling the stomach.

My personal favorite tea, is pouring boiling water over fresh cut ginger root, adding fresh squeezed lime 1/4 to 1/2 and adding honey YUM! Seriously, this is the best.  Ginger is an ancient Chinese remedy to minimize the symptoms of hangovers. Ginger has been found to soothe the digestive lining and balance gastric juices, making it a great remedy for overeating, too.

Fennel has an antispasmodic effect that relaxes the muscles of the stomach. Bloating, flatulence and stomach upsets can benefit from this herb. It can be combined with mint and caraway seeds.
An infusion (herbal tea) of fennel can also help prevent future overeating. Its licorice-y taste has long been used as an appetite suppressant.

Start with apple cider
Apple cider vinegar is traditionally used to remedy digestive distress, support liver detoxification, normalize digestive juices, and reduce intestinal bloating. Mix 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar with 12 ounces of warm water, and drink in the morning on empty stomach. Feel free to add a little honey or maple syrup. Lemon water will also help.

Lemon water
First thing in the morning, drink one lemon squeezed in 12 ounces of warm filtered water. Lemon activates your liver to release toxins and helps to cleanse and move the roughage that stays behind in your intestines. Throughout the day, drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water to flush your system.

Why Detox Baths:


If the toxins we consume cannot be destroyed by our digestive system, detoxified by the liver, or eliminated by the lymph system, they begin to build up. (NOTE: Baths should be taken on a daily basis during detox and rotated, switching to a different type of bath each day. After detoxing, use whichever bath seems appropriate to meet your current needs.)

orange ball EPSOM SALTS AND GINGER:

This bath opens pores and eliminates toxins and also helps to eliminate pain. Stir one cup of epsom salts and 2 tablespoons of ginger in a cup of water first, then add Juniper, Rosemary, Black Pepper and Grapefruit Essential Oils to 1 oz olive oil and add to the bath. Do not remain in the tub for more than 30 minutes.

orange ball SALT AND SODA:

Baking soda  is a very alkalizing product, so soaking in a bath containing it can help alkalize an overly acidic body system. It is also helpful for reversing the toxicity of radiation absorbed from cell phones, pad devices, computers, microwaves, televisions, x-rays, cancer treatment radiation, and other medical scans, etc. 1 cup of baking soda and 1 to 2 cups of ordinary coarse salt (or epsom salts or sea salt) and Frankincense, Black Cumin, and Lavender essential oils to a tub of water. You can soak for 20 minutes.

orange ball EPSOM SALTS, SEA SALT, AND SESAME OIL:

This bath helps with dry skin and stress. Take 1 cup of Epsom salt, 1 cup of sea salt, and 1 cup of sesame oil with Tea Tree, Lavender, and Neroli Essential Oils - and put into a warm to hot tub of water and soak for 20 minutes. Pat yourself dry.

orange ball VINEGAR BATH:

This is used when the body is too acidic. This is a quick way of restoring the acid-alkaline balance. 1 cup to 2 quarts of 100% apple cider vinegar to a bathtub of warm water. Soak 40 to 45 minutes. This is excellent for excess uric acid in the body and especially for the joints, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, and gout. I mix up a small batch of 1 oz, olive oil, a few drops of juniper, geranium, black pepper and rosemary essential oils and massage all over and then soak in this bath for best results.

orange ball BENTONITE BATH:

A fast detoxification method. Soak 2 to 4 pounds of bentonite clay in a flat container overnight to dissolve it. Then add this to a tub of water. With 2 pounds of bentonite you would soak one hour; with 4 pounds you would soak only about 30 minutes. The more bentonite used, the faster the detoxification. (NOTE: While bentonite is a great adsorber, it is widely used to seal well-casings and ponds.  It would very likely seal many septic systems too, costing thousands to repair. Use sparingly or with caution!)

Get over Colds and Flu also Boost the Body’s own Defenses
  • Prepare a pair of thin cotton socks by soaking them in cold water.
  • Pull out a pair of thick wool or cotton socks and have them waiting.
  • Prepare a foot bath of hot water (100 to 110 degrees).
  • Dress the person receiving the treatment  warmly and immerse their feet in the hot water (the water should be 3 to 8 inches above the ankle bones).
  • Keep their feet in the water for about 10 minutes. They should be rosy pink when you take them out of the water.
  • Take the feet out of the hot water and dry them off.
  • Wring out the thin cotton socks you’ve had soaking in cold water, and put them on the  feet. Yes, I really did just say that. Yes, you might encounter some form of resistance.
  • Now, immediately put the thick wool socks or cotton socks you’ve had waiting around on the feet, on top of the thin cotton socks that were soaked in cold water.
  • Allow the person to relax, take a nap, or read. Basically, they shouldn’t be moving about too much.
  • After 2-3 hours, the person's feet will naturally dry the socks, and you can remove them if it’s too uncomfortable.

Physicians at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health commonly prescribe this treatment (in fact, the ND who first told me about this protocol is himself a Bastyr-trained physician) to get over colds and flu and to boost the body’s own defenses. How does it work? Well, the icy cold increases the blood circulation, which in turn, stimulates the body’s immune system and “revs it up” to battle infections, congestion, and other conditions. The Bastyr physicians recommend that you do this treatment starting on the first day of an illness and repeat it for three nights in a row.

Of course, there are some circumstances under which you shouldn’t use this treatment, like if you have an already-compromised immune system or other pre-existing illnesses like diabetes or arteriosclerosis of the lower extremities. And, it’s just one remedy, to be used in conjunction with other modalities, like immune-boosting supplements, nutrition, and hydration. But it sure is a darn good remedy, especially because a) it’s so easy to perform; b) the items you need are easily found in your home; and c) it’s completely FREE. And while it does sound uncomfortable, many people who receive the treatment say that they actually sleep much better with the wet socks on! (Can you imagine?)
