How to Repel
Wasps Using Essential Oils
|
A Wasp Repelling Essential Oil
Blend
I found that a blend of lemongrass,
clove and
geranium essential
oils managed to completely
repel worker wasps. You might try with a mix of
several drops of each of the oils in a spray
bottle filled with water, and a few squirts of
dish soap. Coat the areas outside of your
house, as before, in places wasps are known to
build nests, to keep them away.

Skin
and It's Exposure to the Summer
Elements
Excellent
Ways
to combat the Heat and
Drying
Effects of
the Elements on Your Skin
Your skin
needs extra help staying hydrated during
the summer months. Exposure to hot outdoor
weather followed by cold and dry indoor
air can easily pull moisture from your
skin.
|
With a simple routine and
a few easy tips, you can keep your skin
looking and feeling its best from your
face to your feet. Here are a few Recipes
to help hydrate Summer Skin while cooling
you down.
|
Green tea is chock full of
antioxidants so you might as well put it to
work repairing dry, sun-damaged skin when you
need something cool on a hot summer day.
To make your own spray you will need:
Aloe vera
Green tea, strongly brewed
Peppermint
essential oil
Little spray bottle
To brew my tea I put a tea bag into a heat
proof container along with a few fingers
of water placed in a pan of water to brew for
a minute or two and allowing to steep for
15-20 before actually using. This produces a
crazy strong tea that I have found is great
for my skin.
Put a bit of aloe vera into your bottle. Use
as much or as little as you please.
Pour your tea until the bottle is 3/4 to
mostly full. Add between 1-2 drops of your peppermint
essential oil. Start of with just
a few drops and shake your bottle until
everything is well incorporated. Give yourself
a test spray and wait at least five minutes.
Did it cool well enough? Then leave it alone!
If it didn’t add a drop or 2 more of
peppermint essential oil, until you’re happy
with the cooling efficiency. Just add one drop
at a time.
Lovely options;
- Dry or aging skin: Add 4 to 6
drops of argan, jojoba,
or Coconut
Emulsifier to your facial mist
to treat aging skin—just be sure to shake
before use.
- Sensitive or dry skin: Add
equal parts rosewater to the green tea
mist to treat sensitive or dry skin.
- Oily or acne-prone skin: Add
one teaspoon of witch hazel to your green
tea mist for oily or acne-prone skin.

Normal
to
Sensitive Skin
|
Try
this homemade combination if you have normal
to sensitive skin. The vegetable glycerin is
an “easy on the skin” emollient and the
chamomile is gentle and calming. Keep this
face mist for sensitive skin on hand for a
quick pick me up. Also a great hair and room
refresher!
Face Mist For Sensitive Skin

bottle
Homemade Face Mist For
Sensitive Skin Instructions:

tea in water for 10 minutes
Fill half of a small spray bottle with tea

Add water to fill the bottle

Tea tree
oil kills
bacteria before it has a chance to cause a
blemish, sea salt helps
treat existing blemishes while its minerals
nourish the skin, peppermint cools
the skin after a heated workout, and lemongrass lifts the
mood as lavender calms
the mind.
2 teaspoons himilayian salt
1 cup peppermint tea
30 drops tea
tree essential oil
2-3 lavender
essential oil
2-3 drops lemongrass
essential oil
To make,
first brew a cup of peppermint tea. While
it’s still hot, add in your sea salt and mix
well to dissolve. Then, mix in your tea
tree oil and other essential oils, and
allow to cool. Funnel your mixture into an
atomizer bottle (glass is best), and you’re
good to go!
A
couple of tips!
– If your
skin is sensitive, you might want to start
out using a little less tea
tree oil and sea salt, and maybe just
1 or 2 drops of the essential oils in total.
These oils can be irritating to some,
so it’s best to start with a diluted
version.
– Not all
sea salt is created equal. Oftentimes, sea
salt that appears bright white in color has
been processed, which means it’s not as pure
and natural as it may seem. I love pink
Himalayan sea salt
– This
spray can be used on your body as well. If
you’re prone to breakouts on your back after
exercise, this might help!
– Feel free
to experiment with different types of herbal
tea and various essential oils, too. Just
make sure you don’t use any that are too
harsh on your skin. Make this your own
blend of what works for you!

Hibiscus
is known for its ability to cleanse, tone
and balance the skins delicate pH. Hibiscus
is rich in alpha
hydroxy acids that
naturally exfoliate and amino acids that
provide a tightening effect to the skin
without stripping the natural (sebum)
oils. The tea also has a high vitamin C
content, which
helps fight the signs of aging.
Witch Hazel
Now I’m a
big fan of witch hazel, which is naturally
naturally anti-inflammatory and astringent
so it can tighten pores without
over drying. The witch hazel you can buy in
the grocery store often contains alcohol so
search out one (like Thayer’s) that is
100% witch hazel.
Vitamin
C Powder
Vitamin C is a
bit of a skin wonder ingredient for aging.
It fights free radical damage and combats
the effects of aging as well as helping skin
balance is pH levels. I started with a small
amount of vitamin C powder for two reasons:
it breaks down quickly, losing its
effectiveness, and it can also cause
irritation.
- 6 ounces water
- 3 bags
hibiscus tea
- 1 ounce witch
hazel
- ½ teaspoon
vitamin C powder -no
more than 1.5 teaspoons per
batch of toner so start small and work
your way up.
- Bring six ounces of water to
boil, turn off heat, and add three organic
hibiscus teabags.
- Steep covered for 20 minutes.
- Remove teabags and add one ounce
of alcohol-free witch hazel and ½ teaspoon
of vitamin C powder.
- Transfer to a small spray
bottle. Keep in a cool, dry spot and use
within 2 weeks. Refrigerate for longer
shelf life.
- Apply a bit to the neck to make
sure you don’t have any sensitivity, then
use morning and night after washing your
face.

Seasonal Allergies
|
People all
over the world suffer from allergies. At
times, it seems there can be no relief.
Common symptoms include sneezing; runny or
bleeding nose; dry, itchy, or watery eyes;
hives; vomiting; nausea; or headaches. There
are some that struggle from more severe
allergies which lead to inflammation causing
a shortness of breath or the inability to
breath, impaired vision, feeling light-
headed and/ or passing out, seizures, or
worse. |
Peppermint
essential oil is an
expectorant which can provide immediate
relief for those struggling with congestion
by aiding in clearing phlegm. For those
struggling with allergies, asthma, or
bronchitis, this oil will minimize
inflammation while promoting the feeling of
easy breathing through open airways. |
is a natural antihistamine and
anti-inflammatory. This oil is a prime
option for treating yourself while in the
middle of an allergic reaction. Use
topically to soothe and calm skin
irritations such as insect bites or hives. (Note – For
those who often struggle with skin
reactions, store fabric sheets, soaked in
lavender essential oil water, in airtight
containers for on-the-go relief.) Diffuse
lavender to reduce inflammation in bronchial
tubes. |
Caraway
essential oil - Histamine is
the major reason behind disruptive and
exhausting coughs. Caraway
oil can be miraculously helpful by
neutralizing the effects of histamine and
cures these potentially dangerous coughs and
other ailments associated with histamines and
allergies.
|
There
is some evidence that when used in
combination with other essential oils that Ravintnsara
essential oil may help reduce
the symptoms of allergic rhinitis including
congestion and drainage of the nasal passage |
Frankincense
Essential Oil For
thousands of years, people have turned to
frankincense for relief. Though many use
frankincense for religious purposes and when
meditating, it is also helpful in relieving
chronic stress and anxiety, reducing
inflammation, boosting immunity, and
managing pain. This oil can be applied
topically, ingested, or inhaled. Many
people will mix it with a carrier oil,
though it is not necessary. |
Eucalyptus
essential oil can be mixed
it with peppermint
essential oil and coconut oil for a
homemade vapor rub. Eucalyptus can naturally
clear mucus.
|
Clove
essential oil is similar in
many ways to eucalyptus. Clove
buds is known for its antimicrobial,
antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral,
aphrodisiac, and stimulant properties.
Chinese culture has been using clove for
more than 2,000 years. Today, it is used
for dental care, skin afflictions, acne,
candida, skin repellant, massage lotions,
digestive agent, seasonings and more. When
treating your allergy symptoms though, you
might be interested in knowing that cloves
have nearly 30 times more antioxidants
than blueberries. This will help to
protect your body from harmful bacteria
and viruses. |
Lemon is
one of the most popular essential oils due
to is versatility. Lemon is most notable for
its ability to cleanse toxins from any
part of the body. There are numerous
benefits including purification, nausea
relief, improves digestion, promotes weight
loss, cough relief, and more.
|
Lemongrass
essential oil
can be used as a muscle and tendon
relaxer. Allergic reactions can cause
cramping or muscle tension. Apply your
diluted mixture of lemongrass for instant
relief. For allergy-related headaches or
sinus headaches, rub lemongrass on your
temples. This is especially helpful if you
have a sensitivity to peppermint oil. It
is also used to treat heartburn and
indigestion by rubbing a drop or two on
the chest or abdomen. Insects do not like
lemongrass! Spray on your clothing to
prevent ticks, mosquitoes,
and other biting bugs. Here is a
simple pain relief formula you can make at
home.
