As we age our skin becomes more delicate...
tears actually occur when the skin begins to separate from itself
As we age our skin becomes more delicate...  tears actually occur when the skin, or dermis, begins to separate from itself, an especially painful experience that can lead to infection if the damaged area remains untreated. When it comes to proper wound care, there are a number of different options to treat skin tears.

As the skin ages, the layers of tissue and cells that form that firm, clear, youthful skin begin to thin. This contributes to the sagging, wrinkled, more translucent skin of old age. It can also affect healing and display other kinds of damage, like age spots. I gave my husband licorice root and it took his spots away
Essential oils are concentrated aromatic oils extracted from different parts of trees & plants like the flowers, fruits and barks. They are very potent and offer a myriad of beauty benefits for skin, hair and the general body. One of the numerous benefits of essential oils for mature skin is that they help deliver nutrients without clogging up the pores, unlike many anti aging over-the-counter creams and serums.
7 Best Essential Oils for Aging Skin
wonderful choice for those looking for something that really and truly hydrates and nourishes the skin
The essential oils listed below have great anti-aging properties including:
  • improving circulation,
  • stimulating hormones,
  • tightening and lifting the skin,
  • regeneration of skin cells,
  • lightening age spots,
  • delaying wrinkles & fine lines as well as rejuvenating tired and dull looking mature skin.
  • You can use these essential oils for aging skin as part of your night time skin care treatment as this is the time your skin repairs itself.
Helichrysum  The benefits of helichrysum essential oil are said to occur at a cellular level, restoring the cell structures that spread and thin with age.
Use Tamanu oil, as the carrier oil with the essential oil- it is excellent for the skin.
Geranium - is one of my favorite essential oils for both skin and hair. Its natural astringent effects tighten skin thereby reducing large pores, regulating sebum as well as toning & firming aging skin. This essential oil also promotes cell renewal and proper blood circulation. Geranium essential oil offers antioxidant protection which steers away oxygen stealing free radicals that degenerate healthy skin cells. Mix about 10 drops of geranium essential oil into your bath water to lighten as well as protect your skin from age spots and dark marks. I love to use aloe vera on my skin as part of my night skin care routine and I  recently started mixing it with geranium essential oil.
Night Time Skin Care: In a small amber jar, mix 5-7 drops of geranium essential oil  2 tablespoons of pure aloe vera gel and apply it onto your skin before bed for youthful skin.
Sandalwood  can help tighten, firm & improve the tone of aging skin. Using sandalwood essential oil protects skin cells from UV radiation and sun damage. It contains potent sesquiterpene compounds and skin regenerative properties that improve circulation and promote smoother looking skin.

Face Oil:
Mix 5 drops of sandalwood essential oil,
3 drops of geranium essential oil
in 2 tbsp of sweet almond oil
Store it in an amber glass dropper bottle. Use it as part of your skin care routine for youthful skin.
Frankincense essential oil is one of the best essential oils for aging skin. It helps in tightening & firming sagging skin, minimizing the appearance of scars, dark marks & age spots, balancing the skin’s pH, protecting the skin from free radicals as well as regenerating skin cells. It also contains strong anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and it has been shown to be anti cancerous and anti-tumor.

 Luxurious Anti-Wrinkle Treatment:
Mix 3 drops of frankincense oil and
4 drops of carrot seed oil in
7 tablespoons of jojoba oil
Store it in a glass dropper bottle. Apply on your face two times a day for 10 days then apply once every two days to stimulate collagen production and delay under eye wrinkles.
Lavender essential oil contains anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti fungal and anti aging properties. It helps delay fine lines, age spots, wrinkles, sun spots because of its skin regenerative properties.

Massage Oil:
Combine 10 drops of lavender essential oil
in 2 oz of liquid coconut oil
Store it in a dark glass bottle. Massage this onto your face and neck to help promote proper blood circulation and delay signs of premature aging.
Rose Otto Gallica - Moldova is one of the most amazing essential oils for aging skin and women’s skin in general. It is revered for its flowery and romantic scent and promotes healing and improves circulation. Rose Otto Gallica - Moldovahelps maintain the skin’s elasticity by preventing the breakdown of collagen, thereby delaying wrinkles.

Moisturizing Cream:
The combination of rose essential oil shea butter smells gorgeous and provides deep hydration for aging skin. Simply mix:
4 drops of Rose Otto Gallica - Moldova essential oil
2 tablespoons of shea butter.
Store this in a small jar and apply a pea-sized amount on your skin to rejuvenate your skin.
Free radical damage is the major cause of premature aging including the development of fine lines and wrinkles at an early age. Free radicals act by stealing oxygen from healthy skin cells thereby rendering them dull and lifeless and this forms wrinkles and sagging skin.

Myrrh essential oil can be used topically to smooth out aging skin and prevent under eye wrinkles from forming.

Healing Blend:
In a small glass bottle,
add in 2 tablespoons of rosehip oil
and about 7-10 drops of myrrh essential oil.
Shake it well to mix. To apply, dot it under your eyes and on your face and massage gently until the skin soaks it up.
Carrot seed essential oil  is rich in nourishing vitamins, minerals and powerful antioxidants such as carotenoids that protect the skin from sun damage and delay signs of aging. This amazing essential oil is great for aging skin as it contains antioxidant properties that defend the skin from free radicals and also provide a rejuvenating effect that will improve the tone & appearance of aging skin. Carrot seed essential oil will tighten the skin and promote cell regeneration.

Anti-Aging Serum:
To make an effective anti-aging serum,
mix 5-7 drops of carrot seed essential oil,
3-5 drops of geranium essential oil
and 3 drops of lemon essential oil
in ½ cup of apricot kernel oil
Store it in a glass dropper bottle. Apply a small amount of this onto your face each night before bed for youthful and glowing skin.

Experts agrees that Children, as well as those with Weakened Immunity and Seniors
should avoid this toxic chemical

Nearly all conventional insect repellents used today contain DEET, a chemical that was developed during the Second World War, used by the U.S. Army in jungle warfare. In 1957, it was registered as a pesticide where it became available to consumers and has been used ever since.

DEET works by confusing odor receptors on mosquitoes’ antennae. A blood seeking mosquito targets you by detecting three things: your body heat, the carbon dioxide you exhale, and various chemicals that the body excretes through your skin, the most important of which is lactic acid. Certain receptors on a female mosquitoes antennae are tuned into this lactic acid and nothing else. DEET turns off the receptors so that the nerves connected to them are rendered useless. Shutting down these lactic acid receptors with DEET blinds the female mosquito to a human’s presence, despite body heat, carbon dioxide and chemicals on the skin.

DEET has become the most well-known mosquito repellent in the world, and today it can be found in many forms, including sprays, towelettes, roll-ons, liquids, lotions and even wristbands. The majority of formulas contain between 10 and 30 percent DEET, though you can find products used for direct skin application with anywhere from 4 to 100 percent DEET.
A study conducted in the late 1980s on employees of Everglades National Park looked into the effects of DEET found that a full one-quarter of the subjects studied experienced negative health effects that were attributed to exposure to the chemical. Effects included rashes, skin irritation, numb or burning lips, nausea, headaches, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating.

From 1961 to 2002, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry reported eight deaths related to DEET exposure. While three of the fatalities resulted from deliberate ingestion, five occurred following DEET exposure to the skin in both adults and children.
In children, the most frequently reported symptoms of DEET toxicity reported to poison control centers including headaches, tremors, lethargy, seizures, involuntary movements, and convulsions. Experts also say that frequent and long-term use of this chemical, especially in combination with other chemicals or medications, could cause brain deficits in vulnerable populations, especially children.

Just about every expert agrees that children, as well as those with weakened immunity and seniors, should be extra cautious and that it should never be used on infants younger than two months of age. Canada’s federal health department goes further, stating that no child under six months old should be using DEET, and that those who are six months through 12 years old should avoid products that contain more than 10 percent DEET, though that certainly should make one take note as to how potentially dangerous this substance can be.
NEWS RELEASE FROM THE AMERICAN  CHEMICAL SOCIETY
"Catnip Essential Oil Repels Mosquitoes More Effectively Than DEET"
DEET is toxic when ingested at high doses, and dogs and cats may lick it off and ingest it, potentially resulting in a toxicity.
What to use instead:
Pest Away with Catnip essential oil blend can be very effective in keeping the creepy crawlies away.
Catnip essential oil has been found to be most effective against mosquitoes.
Bug Stick ready to use: Bug Stick made with Lavender, Tea Tree, and Lemongrass.  This is a tried and true recipe for natural insect repellent. Apply to exposed areas before venturing outside. Not a bad idea to roll a bandana with the blend and keep it around your neck, the under side of a ball cap and/or over the part in your hair (exposed scalp).
Eucalyptus oil can offer protection that is similar to low concentration DEET products. A 40 percent or higher concentration is recommended for fighting off mosquitoes as well as ticks.
Peppermint acts as a natural insecticide to repel mosquitoes, and it’s highly effective.
